The Nainital Bank Limited was established in 1922 by Bharat Ratna Late Pt. Govindan Ballabh and some other personalities of Nainital. NBL is a century-old private sector Scheduled commercial Bank.

Since 1973, The Nainital Bank Limited has had a very good track record. NBL has a 98.57% of its shareholding with the Bank of Baroda.
